Painted
Oaks Farm Retirement Horse Boarding is a
55 acre retired horse facility located in the heart
of Virginia. Our retired horse boarding farm is conveniently
located 5 miles off Interstate 85 and 15 miles off Interstate
95, offering easy access along the east coast, including,
but not limited to, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia,
West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee,
and Kentucky. The farm is owned by Dennis and Daphne
Sexton, who have over 25 years of experience with horses,
and first hand experience with retired equines and treating
horses post-op. Painted Oaks Farm is a 55 acre retired

Your
monthly board fee of $450 includes:
Pictures
taken upon arrival and emailed to you
Regular
updates, including pictures
24-hour
turnout with compatible groups
Daily
affection & treats
Free-choice
grass and/or hay
Triple
Crown Senior Formula (or other Senior formula as requested)
Blanketing
if requested (blanket provided by owner)
Fly
masks in summer (provided by Painted Oaks)
Fly
Spray as needed in summer (provided by Painted Oaks)
Maintenance
medications and supplements as required (provided
by owner)
De-worming
6 times per year (wormer costs covered in monthly
board fee).
Hooves
trimmed 6 times per year (Farrier costs covered in
monthly board fee).
Annual
vaccinations (costs covered in monthly board fee-Note:
Horses must be boarded 6 months to receive vaccinations
as part of the board fee.)
Annual
teeth float, if required (costs included in monthly
board fee)
Sheath
cleaning as needed
Salt/mineral
block
Grooming
2 times per month
No
holding fee for regular vet and farrier visits
A permanent stall with daily turnout can be provided
at your request for $600/month.
Fee includes all services above, plus a stall.
We
accept long-term or month-to-month leases. Consider
yearly pre-payment to obtain one month free!
Feel
free to ask about services not listed above. For special
requests/services that cannot be performed by us, we
will make arrangements for you at cost-plus-20%. We
will gladly schedule non-routine vet and farrier services,
at cost-plus-$25-holding fee. (Note: routine vet and
farrier care are included in your monthly board fee,
with no holding fee)
Painted
Oaks Farm Retirement Horse Boarding will accept horses
that meet the following criteria:
Current
negative coggins (copy must be provided prior to horse's
arrival)
